Ideally situated between Exmoor, the Quantocks, the historical port of Watchet and mediaeval Dunster Castle, Monkscider House is perfect as a base to explore the treasures of West Somerset.
We are a stopover for all the best walks - the Coleridge Trail, the MacMillan way and the West Coast Path and welcome many returning guests who visit the West Somerset Railway steam galas.
The local wildlife is spectacular, with ponies on North Hill above Minehead, deer on Exmoor and The Quantocks, and the wild goats at Lynton. Other activities include fly, coarse and sea fishing in local reservoirs, ponds, rivers or out of Watchet Harbour, and numerous hacking centres, electric bike hire or the Exmoor Safari.
Children can spend a day at the nearby Tropiquaria, Doniford Farm, or go to Kilve beach for the fossils, and Minehead for the beach and the ever popular Butlins.
Monkscider House is a 15th Century farmhouse in Washford. Rescued from the ivy twelve years ago, it offers luxurious accommodation in large en-suite rooms - the double room is spacious, and can take two extra beds for children.
Award winning breakfasts are served in the country dining room with specialities - local produce and Jan's home made muesli, jams and marmalade.
Monkscider House is committed to providing a warm welcome and restful stay, with full facilities, whether on holiday, a wedding guest at St Audries, up for the WSR steam trains, or on local business - with free Wi-Fi access for guests.
Monkscider House even has an active studio, which guests can use if they feel so inspired by the local countryside, coast, castles, monasteries and villages that they need to put it all down 'on canvas'!
