Dunkery Beacon Country House is a unique place in Exmoor National Park. Set in one acre of beautiful gardens on the edge of the only south facing village, Wootton Courtenay, the Country House has a panorama from each of its 8 en-suite bedrooms that stops all conversation!
The individually decorated rooms include sumptuous four poster beds, pocket sprung mattresses, power showers and HD Televisions, complete with DVD players. We have also focused on the little touches, such as homemade shortbread biscuits and fresh milk on the coffee trays in each room.
The hotel’s fully licensed Coleridge Restaurant is open to the public as well as for residents. The food is an eclectic mix of Modern English with a few exotic twists thrown in!
We like to make as much of our food from scratch, including freshly baked bread for dinner each day and use some excellent local produce, such as free range eggs from Clare Carter at Kitswall Farm near Dunster
Dinner is available between 6.30 p.m. with last tables at 8.00 p.m Wednesday to Saturday. Booking is essential.
Children over 10 are welcome and pets can be accommodated in some rooms by arrangement and we have a ground floor letting room that would be appropriate for guests with limited mobility (but not suitable for wheelchair users).
We have been awarded a "Certificate of Excellence" by Trip Advisor and we have also won the Taste of the West Gold and been awarded "Highly Commended" in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards!
